Case Studies

Real examples of how we’ve helped schools and pupils achieve better outcomes through targeted SEND support and innovative literacy interventions. These success stories demonstrate our commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive solutions that work.

Developing Local Provision Project - Northwest Birmingham

The Developing Local Provision Project represents a collaborative approach to supporting struggling readers across 15 secondary schools in Northwest Birmingham. Through this three-year DfE-funded initiative, we established two cognition and learning literacy hubs where pupils receive intensive six-week interventions tailored to their specific learning needs.

Key outcomes achieved:

The project’s success lies in its personalised approach – from pupils who need quality first teaching strategies to those requiring specialist support pathways. Each child receives detailed exit reports with tailored recommendations for their home school, ensuring continuity of support.

Nisham High School - Transforming Secondary Literacy Support

Nisham High School’s journey demonstrates how secondary schools can effectively support pupils with complex literacy needs through innovative interventions and assistive technology. Working as part of the Developing Local Provision Project, the school developed a robust system combining Literacy Junction programming with scanning pen technology.

Transformational results:

The school’s approach recognises that secondary pupils need more than basic phonics support – they require comprehensive literacy skills including comprehension, writing composition, and classroom independence. By combining targeted interventions with practical assistive technology, pupils gain both the skills and tools needed for academic success.
